Netflix users in many countries targeted
Every product has its own black market, including apparently, Netflix.
In January, Netflix expanded to 130 new countries. As they expand globally a new black market has sprung up selling stolen Netflix accounts – some for as little $.25. Feeding this market are a host of new phishing scams duping unwitting users to ‘official’ Netflix sites where they are asked to enter their usernames and passwords.
Many countries have been targeted. Right now, the two seeing the most activity are Brazil and Denmark. So, if you’re a Netflix user and you get an official-looking email offering you a special discount, BEWARE.
If the mail directs you to a Netflix site where you are asked to log in, DON’T! Report the email as spam and save yourself the hassle of having to disentangle your Netflix account from thieves.
